Many people wait months before booking a first fertility consult, often because nobody tells them what actually happens in the room. So here it is, from check-in on the third floor to the written plan a week later.

Before you arrive

When you book, we send a history form to fill in on your phone: cycles, past pregnancies, surgeries, medications and any results you already have. If you have records from another clinic, sign the release in the form and we request them for you. Bring your insurance card and a photo ID. Partners are welcome and, for most couples, should come.

In the room

A nurse goes over your history in about ten minutes. Then you get forty-five minutes with your physician: what your history suggests, which tests are still missing, and every reasonable option, from monitored cycles to IVF, with honest pros and cons. If your cycle timing allows, an ultrasound in the next room counts the follicles in each ovary.

After the consult

Cycle day 2 to 5 labs and a semen analysis are booked before you leave. About a week later your physician walks you through the results by video, and our financial counselor prices the plan line by line, including what your insurance is expected to cover. Nothing starts until you have that written plan.

What to bring

  • Photo ID and insurance card

  • A list of medications and supplements

  • Earlier lab results, scans or operation notes

  • Your questions, written down
